Chouwen, located in Jabal Moussa, is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of our favourite spots in Lebanon. According to legend, Adonis, the Phoenician and Greek god and lover of the goddess Astarte, met his fate there after being gored by a wild boar.
You park at the top, get a ticket for the walk, hike down for about 40 minutes and reach the beautiful river where you can swim and enjoy. If you are feeling adventurous, you can continue up the river, crossing from side to side until you reach a cave, that you can swim in. When we go we bring water shoes and a waterproof bag.
